Swedish auto maker Volvo launched the S60 Cross Country in the domestic car market of India last month. Now, the company is all braced up to launch many more new models in this country within 2016. The planned new launches from the stable of Volvo in India also include the company’s flagship model – the Volvo S90 sedan which is expected to launch by the end of 2016, most likely during this year’s festive season.
Volvo has unveiled the new S90 sedan in the global markets as replacement model of the ageing Volvo S80 sedan in the month of December in 2015. Now this quite recently introduced S90 luxury sedan is also expected to land in the Indian car market to impress the luxury car buyers.
The new Volvo S90 luxury sedan flaunts a brand new design language that was first introduced with the Volvo XC90 SUV.
The S90’s front fascia gets highlighted with a very stylish square shaped vertical multi slatted radiator grille that lends the face added aggression. The luxury sedan also flaunts two large distinctly styled LED headlights that look like Thor’s Hammer similar to the once on the XC9O. The premium sedan gets a sophisticated and smooth side profile that exudes style. From the side profile of the S90, it is also apparent that the saloon is longer than the outgoing S80 sedan model. Its C-pillar is more curved look giving an appearance of a coupe. Like the front and the side, the rear façade of the luxury saloon also boasts of a highly impressive new styling with great sculpted boot lit and bumper design, while the new C -shaped tail lights are the most striking feature that draws major attention from the back.
The all new Volvo S90 sedan is a large sized vehicle and comes riding on a wheelbase that measures 2,941 mm, this makes the S90 the longest model in its own segment. The segment best body length also naturally means a segment best spacious cabin and heightened occupant comfort. With great styling and great space, the new S90 will simply make a superb buy. However, the only one fact that strongly goes against the vehicle is its low ground clearance of just 152 mm which will mean that this expensive car’s underbody can end up getting badly scratched and damaged by the rough and bad road conditions of India.
The new Volvo S90 premium sedan is likely to get equipped with a 2.0 liter diesel motor powering the D4 or the D5 trims. The D4 offers a peak power of 188 bhp while the D5 delivers a higher max power output of 232 bhp.
The S90 is also a truly luxury sedan and boasts of many advanced technology including an advanced semi-autonomous drive system called Pilot Assist which works fine on the highways and keeps the vehicle properly aligned within the lane markings. There is also an animal detection system that warns the driver if it senses possibility of collision with animals even at night and also offers brake support.
