The biennial auto event, Indian Auto Expo is highly important for all the car majors operating in India. Thus, all the editions of the Auto Expo get to showcase innumerable new cars and concepts grabbing the attention of the auto enthusiasts. India’s second largest car major, Hyundai Motor India also makes most of the Auto Show and is preparing at full swing to display many of its products at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo.
Take a look at the 5 models that the South Korean car major is likely to showcase at the event:
New Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai India is expected to resurrect the Tucson brand in India this year after its discontinuation back in 2010. The new Hyundai Tucson is expected to make its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, and will be placed between the new Creta and Santa Fe. Like most of the new Hyundai cars, the new Tucson also flaunts the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. It is powered by a 2 liter CRDi, turbocharged diesel mill that is coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission.
Refreshed Hyundai Eon facelift
Hyundai’s cheapest offering, the stylish Eon mini hatch has not received any facelift ever since its launch in India. Now, as the competition level has highly increased in the entry level hatchback segment in India, Hyundai has finally decided to launch the updated Hyundai Eon. After it’s expected unveiling at the Expo, it could launch by this year’s first half.
All New Hyundai Elantra
The all new Hyundai Elantra premium sedan first unveiled at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, and is expected to launch in India by 2016 end or early 2017. The new-gen Elantra is based on the car maker’s Storm Edge design language and is more premium than the previous-gen model. The new Elantra is also a bigger car offering more cabin space and comfort. The international model gets three engine options, namely a 1.6 liter petrol, 1.6 liter diesel and a 2.0 liter petrol unit. However, the engine line-up for the India-spec new Elantra is not confirmed as yet.
New Hyundai Compact MPV
A new compact MPV model from Hyundai is on the anvil to fight with the popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo with the Hexa Space concept. A production version model as the codenamed IP is expected to be showcased at the 2016 Expo. This MPV might share the platform and the engine range with the Elite i20 premium hatch.
Hyundai i20 N Sport
Hyundai i20’s massive success prompted the Korean car major to build a sportier and more powerful version of the car, called the i20 N Sport. The new-gen Hyundai Elite i20 is incredibly popular in India, which made the company launch the i20 Active crossover. Now, Hyundai India wants to go one step further in making the i20 range more popular with the launch of the Hyundai i20 N Sport. The car is tuned by Hyundai’s ‘N’ performance division for that authentic sporty feel and enhanced power.
