Tata Motors, since quite sometime, is trying to increase its international presence. Now it has been found out that the company is heading for the Australian market. Tata Motors has announced that it will be entering Australia with the help of its new distributor M/s Fusion Automotive. Through this firm, the Indian automaker will introduce Xenon, its entry level pick up, in Australia by the month of October 2013.
The Tata Xenon for Australia will be using the same DICOR diesel engine of 2.2 liter capacity but this engine will produce more power. This engine will churn out a maximum power of 148 bhp and a torque of 320 Nm. The Xenon will have a 5 speed manual transmission. The pickup will have 3 variants called Cab Chassis, Single Can and Double Can each having 2 drive versions i.e. 2 wheel drive system and 4 wheel drive system.
The pick-up will see power windows, power steering, audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, AUX and USB connectivity and air conditioning. A optional package will be offered which includes an infotainment system with touch screen, navigation system and rear parking camera. The vehicle will also have front air bags and Anti Lock Braking System (ABS), ECS (Electronic stability system), Traction control, hill assist etc.
Xenon pick-up most likely will cost less than 35000 Australian Dollar which is around Rs 20 lacs. The Australian distributor, Fusion Automotive will start 13 dealerships by the end of the year 2013 and will expand its network to 25 dealerships in the next year.
