A new variant of the Skoda Rapid will be added to the existing lineup – the Skoda Rapid Estate. This new upcoming car will have a regular wheelbase and will be known as an evolved version of the Rapid. It is decided that this new variant will be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013. In UK, the Rapid Estate will be put up for sale from this October.
In this new model, the evolved C and D pillars will be present. The car is basically shorter by 180mm in size than the regular variant. But still there is enough space for legroom at the back. The car looks a bit sporty with a rear spoiler.
The Skoda Rapid Estate is well-equipped with basic safety features like ABS, ESC, three-point seat-belts, multiple airbags and a head restraint with respect to height. It has also been provided with optional features like fog lights, xenon headlights, hill hold controller, tire pressure control system and a double cargo floor. The most attractive part of the car is a panoramic glass roof that runs wide from the rear window to the windscreen. This makes the car appear bigger than it is.
In case of the engine and fuel options, the car will resemble its sibling, featuring a 1.6-litre petrol engine that empowers 104PS and 150Nm of torque and a 1.6-litre diesel mill with the same power but 100Nm more in torque. The car will be priced at 10,500 GBP (Rs 9.49 lakh) in the UK.
The Indian version of the Rapid is quite different than the one sold in UK. Skoda is planning for a facelift for the Indian version of the car.
