The Renault Kwid has been spotted in Bangalore while test driving. The model was unveiled at an Chennai in the last month. The car has been spotted several times earlier and was codenamed as XBA. The model offers a best mileage in its segment and comes with a 3-cylinder 0.8 litre petrol engine that delivers a power output of 57 bhp, that is combined to a 5-speed manual as well as Automated Manual Transmission. This car is said to be one of the most important project for Renault CEO as the sources says that the CEO wishes to develop a car with low price and fuel efficiency .
The model supports features like radio, bluetooth, navigation functions via a 7-inch touchscreen,Optional driver-side airbag, navigation system, digital instrument cluster with chrome accents on the air-vents, 800cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine, Crossover-like design etc. Renault and Nissan has developed together a 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine which is one of the smallest engine in the family. The model will be launched in India as well as outside India. The design of the car has been inspired from other renault cars. Renault Kwid resemble more to crossover then compared to a hatchback. The localisation content of the model is around 98%.
The Renault Kwid will be produced locally at Renault Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai. The hatchback is priced around Rs 3 lakhs. The model will set a tough competition against Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and 2015 Tata GenX Nano. The car will be launched between September to November, 2015.
