Mahindra XUV500’s automatic variant spotted while testing

Various reports in the past have indicated that Mahindra is working on an automatic transmission model of its highly successful XUV500 compact SUV car. Now a test module of the Mahindra XUV500 with automatic transmission has been spotted while testing out on the roads. The test mule of the car has been minorly camouflaged, so we have a good look at the design of the new car. The test module was out on roads with a warning sticker that says not to be driven above 50 kilometer per hour.

Mahindra has already signed a deal with Aisin Seiki, a Japanese supplier of automatic transmissions. Aisin Seiki will be producing the automatic transmission gear boxes for the upcoming automattic version of the Mahindra XUV 500 SUV. This automatic transmission gear box is comes with 6-speed setting and will be used in future Mahindra and SsangYong models. Mahindra XUV500 SUV’s engine will also be paired by the 6-speed gear box automatic unit. Y I Lee, CEO and the precedent of SsangYong has already confirmed this news.

With the addition of the automatic transmission gear box, the XUV500 will be able to produce 30 bhp of more maximum power. The manual variant of the car offers 140 bhp with a 2.2 ltr, after the addition of automatic gear box, it will offer 150 bhp of maximum power. There is no word about the pricing and the exact launch date off the phone as of now.
