Mahindra XUV500 W4 likely to be launched in October

It was revealed in May that Mahindra is most likely to roll out a lower end variant of XUV500 in order to increase the volume of its SUV. Now the company has revealed the feature and specification list of this new car. The car will carry the same engine and underpinnings but it will lack many features to keep the manufacturing costs low.


Talking about the exterior, this W4 variant will not endorse fog lamps, roof rails and twin exhausts. Talking about the features, the car will not get a DVD player, tyre pressure sensors, touch screen display, park assist, and rain sensing wipers as well as auto head lamps.

This new W4 variant will also lack the telescopic steering wheel, automatic OVRMs, climate control system, cruise control system, door ajar sensors, puddle lamps as well as steering mounted audio controls. The company will be offering the ABS along with EBD and dual air bags but will be removing the ESP, hill descent as well as hill hold controls.

Talking about the engine, theW4 will continue to be powered by the 2.2 liter diesel engine that is capable of generating a power of 140 bhp and a torque of 320 Nm. The engine has been mated to a 6 speed manual gear box and offers a front wheel drive.

Considering the features which have been drooped from this new variant, it can be expected that company will be pricing it in the range of Rs.9 lacs to Rs 10 lacs.
