This year’s Delhi Auto Expo will be full of new surprises from all the automajors of the country. Various automakers will showcase numerous concepts and unveil more than one new model at the February Auto Show. Hyundai is ready for the Auto Show with the new facelift of the Eon, the new Tucson premium SUV, and also, an all-new compact SUV concept to flaunt to the world.
Starting on 3rd February, the Delhi Auto Expo will see a new sub-4 meter SUV from Hyundai. It is not yet known whether the Company intends to start the production of the car right after the unveiling and have it on sale by next year, or whether it is just a concept as of now. What the South Korean automaker is focusing on right now is the Eon facelift and the Tucson crossover. Another sedan, the Elantra D-Segment car is also scheduled for unveiling.
The Eon facelift will come with a few cosmetic tweaks and some equipment upgrades. The engine will remain the same and the facelifted model will go on sale by the middle of this calendar year.
The new sub-4 meter SUV being talked about is almost a mystery vehicle as nothing is known about its engine and feature specifications and neither is there any confirmed news about what phase the model stands in. Given that so little about the car has been shared with the public, it is safe to assume that the new SUV will remain just a concept at the February Auto Expo. However, there does lie thin chances of Hyundai taking the market by surprise and rolling out the new car within the end of this year itself. Rumors are, that the new compact SUV will share its platform with the Hyundai Elite i20. The powertrain will also be a similar one to the Elite i20. If launched, the car might battle the Ford EcoSport.
The third-generation Tucson rolled out in 2015 and is getting an early upgrade. The Tucson will feature a new design language and will be placed in the Hyundai SUV line in between the Creta and the Santa Fe. The earlier models of the Tucson did not do quite well in the Indian market. However, taking India’s growing affinity for premium crossovers into consideration, the new Tucson is likely to do well in the market this time.
The new Elantra will come with a completely new design and much better specs than its predecessor. The car will however not be available anytime soon in the market. India is likely to see the car in the market sometime in the beginning of 2017.
Apart from these cars, Hyundai will also introduce its Genesis luxury sedan brand-child. The G90 is going to be the first product of the luxury sedan from the brand. All-in-all, the country’s second largest car manufacturer will flaunt a total of 17 new products at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The lineup will also include a new sub-brand called the ‘N’.
