Honda Motors India does not have a diesel engine version for any of its cars in the Indian market. All its popular cars like Honda Brio, Honda Jazz, Honda City and Honda Accord all are available only with petrol versions and this is really damaging the sales figure of Honda Motors India big time for the past few months. To tackle out the situation, Honda launched the CNG version of popular sedan Honda City recently. Now, we are hearing the news of Honda mulling over the idea of coming up with diesel engine versions of their popular Indian cars in order to gain their entry back in the Indian market and to be a real competitor in the popular car segments in India.
Honda India is geared up to bring out 3-4 diesel engine versions in their present sedan and compact utility car line-up inside the next 2-3 years. The 1st diesel engine powered vehicle would be constructed off the Honda Brio platform and has been codenamed 2TP. Honda Motors India have highly challenging plans for diesel motor in the forthcoming years. The brand-new engine would drive each and every new model queued up for the future, including the brand-new small sedan in the following financial year. Honda India has disclosed its programs for diesel powered vehicles would then reach the Honda Jazz, City and the new MPV or sport utility. The feasible sizes for these vehicles are 1.2 and 1.5-litre diesel motors based on the model.
