The BMW i project can be termed as the most iconic projects in the history of the company as well as the auto world. BMW has taken the electrically driven cars to an all new level. Electric cars were never this luxurious. The company had a grand display of its “i” members at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Now, the i8 has been spotted test driving in Beijing in China. i8 is one of the only 2 members of the i-series. The spy sots of this car were revealed on carnewschina.com. Some of the pictures also show the car being charged at stations which care believed to be based in the north western suburbs of Beijing.
The company has termed the i8 as the ‘most progressive sports car’ which is all set to ‘revolutionize its vehicle classes’. The car has been brilliantly designed and a mere look is enough to give an idea about its prowess. According to the information which has been revealed, the i8 is being powered by a 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine of 1.5 liter capacity and an electric motor which is capable of pumping out a combined power of 357 bhp and a maximum torque of 570 Nm. The i8 is capable of doing a 0 to 100 kmph in less than 4.9 seconds. The car will be able to attain a maximum speed of 250 kmph.
It is being expected that the car will be launched in China in the first half of next year.
