The mini SUVs or the sub-4 meter compact SUV models are the rage in the Indian car market now. All car majors in India are not only eager to launch compact SUVs, but also the sub-compact SUVs owing to the humongous demands. Hence, the Sports Utility Vehicles or SUVs which are originally large, bulky, tough and rugged vehicles are increasingly taking their smaller and cuter avatars. The smaller, the better – this is true for the SUVs nowadays, as these originally off-road beating vehicles are getting very city friendly in their mini counterparts. The reasons which make the sub-compact SUVs so much in vogue are their compact city friendly size, good ground clearance to handle bad roads, high seating position, trendy yet sporty looks and of course affordable price tags.
The now not so popular Mahindra Quanto which is actually the slashed down Xylo was the forerunner of this sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. However, the craze was started by the massive success of the Ford EcoSport. Now, recently Mahindra and Maruti have entered the segment with their all new models, while many other car majors are yet to release their new mini SUVs in India.
Let us take a look at the 3 upcoming new sub-compact SUV models:
